After sailing on the high seas for many years, I settled down to work among my fellow seamen at the Port of Antwerp in Belgium.

Each day, Russian ships docked there with thousands of sailors aboard. In order to share the true facts about Jesus with them, I smuggled thousands of Bibles to them.

Then, in 1989 I discovered two copies of a comic book presentation of the life of Jesus in the Russian language. Looking through it, I prayed to Jesus, ‘This book will open their eyes!'

So, I smuggled one of the books to a Russian ship's officer, ‘Andre', who was 28 years old.

The following morning I waited for him. When he appeared, his face and eyes were shining. He said two powerful words to me: ‘I believe!'

To me, Andre's words were clear proof of God's blessing upon this powerful little book. Since that moment I have had only one goal: To print and distribute as many of these books as possible… As a result, millions of boys and girls and adults all over the world have been able to discover the real and living Jesus in its lively pages.

The pages at the back of the book share the love of God with the reader. There are fun questions that lead the child to fully understand the salvation message in a creative way that they can comprehend, and a prayer to help lead the child to express his or her faith in Christ.

Colorful cartoon-type books still a hit with children…

But with all of the modern computer games and gadgets, are graphic novels really that popular with children and youth today?

To answer that question, we sent our senior editor to Barnes and Noble and Books a Million - two major bookstore chains - and found that they carry many graphic novels similar to The Adventures of Jesus Illustrated in both quality and size. So, the market for this type of book is still going strong among young readers. However, when we compared the The Adventures of Jesus Illustrated to what we found in these major retail chains, it exceeded them in comparison!
